The country was founded by a Carthaginian warlord named Kygo. He conquered the area and then broke off from Carthage, forming his own nation. He and his sons ruled as monarchs for a very long time.
The country survived attacks from Rome even when Carthage was subdued.
The country never really accomplished much in the way of an empire.
Kygo has had surprisingly good relations with Spain.
Some of the best paintings created during the renaissance were done by Kygian artists, although Italian artists were more famous.
Kygo has always been a technologically advanced country, the first to try out new ideas, and the first to implement them.
Kygo generally did not interfere with European politics, keeping to itself.
A Kygian man named Ati Severus invented a plane long before the Wright brothers. The government found out about it and quickly hired him and kept it secret. It was not until World War One when Kygo emerged with superior flight technology that the world knew about it. After World War One the secret was out, so the government let anybody make planes. It was not long until commercial planes were in use, first used for moving important mail to anyone who had a lot of money to burn.
During World War Two, Kygo was in the middle of a civil war! The government had slowly become corrupt, so a group of fascists (seeing the success in Italy) revolted. The Italians fought with them against the aristocracy, who got help from the Allies. The fighting was brutal, and after WW2 was over Kygo was declared a democratic technocracy. Neither side really won; it was the US and UK who administered the creation of the new government. The leader of the fascists was Trelli Clubs and the leader of the aristocracy was Breeze Bliming.
